Sandra Lindner employs the ‘knüpf technique’, often used for clothing, in creation of the carpet Friedrich, transferring the technique for use in interior design. During a full apprenticeship as a hand-weaver, she acquired and later developed her handy crafter’s skill at the University of Fine Arts (Hochschule für Bildende Künste) in Hamburg.
Her desire to “work from one piece” was part of this development. Implementing this idea, she used wool felt in the design of the carpet, thereby integrating the principles of industrial design. Usually single strands of fabric, necessary for weaving, would have been used. This approach was also taken for the carpet LOOP.
The carpet Friedrich and the fringe attached to it are available in various colours or in uncoloured wool.
